We had wonderful entries in last week's party, and several new faces, whom I enjoyed visiting. Don't you love how you meet new people through blogging, and just when you think you've seen it all, yet another totally amazing blogger inspires you? I know I do.
Before Christmas I worked on a FABULOUS project which involved re-purposing a Victorian red and white quilt remnant. I only took one photo of the finished item before I gifted it, but I will be sharing it later in the week, along with some of the amazing vintage items that I received.
Speaking of inspiration, I am trying to really feel inspired in light of some bad news that I received yesterday. I officially received word that my consulting gig that I have had for the past year has ended. The non-profit that I was doing communications work for has decided to hand over its operations and administration to a non-profit management group. Of course I am sad to no longer be a part of the important work that was underway there, but I am really trying to see the positive in the situation.
I referenced some changes that I have been planning to make to Vintage Pollyanna in my last blog post, and now those changes really seem to be timely. I see a crossroads before me. One path is traditional, and has me casting my net for a new consulting gig or even possibly full-time work. The other path is so really make something of my blog--my hobby--and my love of vintage and crafting. A friend of mine posted a quote on Facebook the other day that said,
I am really hoping that is the case this time. I know it will be.
Have you been let go from a job only to have found a way to take on an out-of-the-box, follow-your-dreams kind of opportunity? Leave me a comment and let me know about it. Right now I can use all of the inspiration I can get!
Anyhoo, let's take a moment to take a look at three of my favorite entries from last week's link party. Here is one I really loved, especially because it has been a project that has been in the back of my mind for over a year. I think this is a sign that I need to get off my duff and get to it! This is a Feltboard Tutorial from the Life of Jennifer Dawn.
Next is a truly fabulous Crocheted Cloche from RockNRegalia. LOVE IT! I actually have one similar to this that my daughter wore in the winter of 2009.
And lastly, just because these are silly and make me smile, I had to choose these Message Pancakes from Agape Love. I mean seriously, who knew it could be this EASY to make a kid smile?
If I featured you as a fave, please grab my button for your blog and CONGRATS!
Now on to the party!
Be sure to grab a button and include it in your post, and leave me a comment to let me know how you found me, or what your New Year's Resolutions are, or if you have any advice for me as I begin to dip my toe back into the land of job-seeking while I amp up my blog at the same time!

I am soooooo excited about being featured. Thank you sooo much. Thanks also for letting me know ahead of time. It made my evening! I already put my button up; it's my first. I am going to link up something else wonderful I made Sunday night when I wake up. It is quite late now.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for featuring my felt board! I'm honored. :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that I said a prayer for you this morning concerning the crossroads you are on. I hope wonderful things with "fall together".
"Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
ReplyDeleteI love that quote! Its not easy to let go, when things fall apart.. but I do believe that quote is true.. a better opportunity could be coming through! I say got for what you love! :) Enjoy it, as much as a bummer as it may be that, that gig ended! :)
Another quote I love is.. God never shuts a door without first opening a window for you! :)
Find that window and go for it!! :)
Thanks so much for featuring my pancakes!! :) That was so awesome of you! The are definitely fun.. and the kids really do LOVE them!

Oh btw do you have a code for your feature button??

ReplyDeleteGood luck in your new endeavors! I too am in the communications biz and have recently decided to stay home full time. Transitions are a bit scary. While I don't have my own creative/DIY success story I would encourage you to take this opportunity to do it! I hear so many great stories out there--you could be the next!
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm new to your link party... I linked up to my resolutions for 2011... maybe you'll find some things to add to your list :) I found you through The Girl Creative.
